Research Research Intern

Main Purpose of the Role

AEW is searching for a Research Intern to join the AEW Research team who would work closely with the Senior Research team. Focus will be assisting in written and quantitative analysis to AEW’s investment and management teams, work directly with senior research staff to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of existing data tools and analyzing vast data resources available.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior research staff in support of the firm’s investment origination, asset management and portfolio management activities.
• Contribute to local real estate market analysis and forecasting.
• Assist in preparing written and graphical decision support materials.
• Perform database/information resource maintenance and development.

Skills/Experience Required

• BA/BS in Economics, Finance or other similar quantitative focus required.
• Internship, or other experience working with economic and demographic data and forecasts; general familiarity with the U.S. commercial real estate market.
• Well-developed and demonstrable business writing skills a must.
• Competency in basic business software such as Microsoft Office Suite of Products with particular focus in Excel (required) and Power BI (preferred).
• Experience with applied statistical analysis, data manipulation and data interpretation and have general knowledge of on-line data and information searching.
• Knowledge of and experience with geographic information systems (GIS) and spatial analysis and multiple programming languages such as R, Spark, Python, SQL, etc.
• Strong time management skills and ability to work both in a team environment and independently.
