Primary Responsibilities:

  • Originate core and value add investment opportunities for Direct Investment Group institutional clients
  • Structure joint ventures with operators
  • Negotiate, underwrite and close transactions
  • Manage multiple acquisition priorities and due diligence process
  • Execute client investment strategies in the context of individual market dynamics
  • In conjunction with the Head of Acquisitions, Portfolio Managers, and AEW Research, help develop and implement investment strategies.
  • Work closely with the respective Portfolio Managers to develop and maintain a clear understanding of client investment objectives
  • Present new investments to AEW’s Investment Committee and prepare requisite Investment Summaries
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with local brokers and origination networks, and local joint venture partners
  • Follow AEW Direct Investment Group’s investment process at each step
  • Provide ongoing input and guidance regarding asset management issues following acquisition
  • As appropriate, communicate with AEW’s clients and Investment Committee on markets and investments under review

  • Oversight and supervision of supporting analytical staff

  • Implement strong attention to detail
  • Represent AEW at industry and client functions

Skills/Experience Required:

  • 7-10 years of institutional real estate experience (3-5 years of acquisition’s experience)
  • BS/BA in Accounting or Finance required, MBA or equivalent degree preferred
  • Strong negotiating and analytical skills, strong people management skills
  • Knowledge of investment products and real estate markets
  • Strong local market knowledge and awareness of potential market shifts
  • Able to help make effective decisions in response to changes in the market
  • Skilled in real estate underwriting, financial analysis, and negotiation
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Good presentation skills
