Main Purpose of the Role

AEW is seeking a Securities Accountant that will be responsible for the oversight of the accounting, financial and performance reporting, as well as a number of other middle and back-office functionalities for separate accounts and funds within the Securities Business Unit. Additionally, assists the Vice President and Director of Operations with numerous compliance and regulatory reporting requirements and initiatives.


  • Provide operational support and contribute toward a team with oversight of third-party accounting administrator
  • Review accounting packages and client statements provided by third party administrator
  • Monitor cash activity and ensure any discrepancies are resolved in a timely fashion
  • Ensure accurate cash balances are populated in Trading system for Portfolio Management teams and trading team
  • Efficiently and accurately prepare monthly and quarterly client reports
  • Prepare management fee calculations and invoices for distribution to clients
  • Ensure ad hoc requests from investors are addressed in a timely manner
  • Assist with the reconciliation of monthly investment accounts to the underlying supporting investment accounting system
  • Notify Custodian banks of pending trade settlement and ensure that trades settle properly
  • Monitor failed trades and work with counter parties and custodians to reduce failed trades
  • Assist in proxy voting process to ensure all ballots are voted as requested by portfolio management team before deadlines
  • Prepare and manage multiple ad-hoc investor inquires
  • Develop leadership skills by demonstrating a willingness to assist and offer input on special projects

Skills/Experience Required

  • BS/BA in accounting or finance required
  • 1-2 years of fund accounting or similar experience preferred 
  • Experience with Global trade operations and Foreign Exchanges a plus
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel) and Adobe/PDF
  • Strong organizational skills as well as strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work within and meet all deadlines while executing on multiple deliverables
  • Must exhibit problem solving, decision making and analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work in an independent, self-driven manner and to perform equally well as part of a team
  • Ability to work effectively with team members in different physical locations
  • Trade lifecycle experience would be a huge plus
