OVERVIEW OF ROLE

  • Working closely with and in support of both the Asset Management and the Investment Management teams
  • The role will deliver support to the Asset Management team, where technical advice is required to initiate and execute asset management initiatives compromising technical aspects but also taking over own responsibility for certain projects
  • A secondary role will involve the monitoring of construction and re-development activities in case of acquiring or refurbishing assets
  • Daily management of third parties mandated by AEW, e.g. technical property management
  • Identification of value drivers for assets under management related to technical topics

MAIN ACTIVITIES & TASKS

  • Development and implementation/adaptation of technical asset management strategies
  • Review, approve and/or manage proposals for complex renovation and major refurbishment programs
  • Manage construction works directly or by the appointment of third-party consultants
  • Provide dedicated support to all Asset Managers in the assessment of physical integrity and mechanical, electrical and public health operating systems of large or complex assets within the portfolio
  • Assessments for compliance with national environmental standards, sustainability and other regulations, where required.
  • In conjunction with the AEW Group approach, develop technical and environmental policies and procedures to be utilised by the Investment and Asset Management teams. Leverage in place systems and best practices as appropriate.
  • Establish and manage relationships with development partners, contractors, consultants and other suppliers.
  • Ability to work independently and taking over responsibility after introduction period
  • Willingness to travel

PROFILE

Qualifications: Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree or Post Master’s Degree.

Competencies:

  • Technical: Architectural engineering or building surveying qualification with strong working knowledge and experience with legal, cost consultancy and construction negotiations.
  • Behavioural: Pro-active in approach with an instinctive ability to anticipate and resolve issues before they become problems. Multi-tasker, working across a diverse range of projects in multiple jurisdictions. Independent, energetic and self-motivated, but also a team player with strong legal and commercial negotiating skills.
  • Management: Complex and numerous development and construction projects, including of third-party co-developers, consultants, contractors and other stakeholders.

Experience:

  • 1) Approximately 5-8 years of experience in the field of technical real estate management.
  • 2) A solid foundation is also required in commercial real estate & construction law; building design; construction methodology, programming & costs; and engineering techniques & systems.
  • 3) Demonstrable track record of leading and motivating third party consultants and contractors to achieve identified project goals and objectives.

Specific Skills (IT, foreign languages, others):

  • Strong communication skills both written and oral.
  • Financial control, modelling, analysis and accounting mechanisms.
  • IT knowledge of all Microsoft programs.
  • Languages : German & English, further languages a plus
  • Strong time management & the ability to travel & work within Germany
  • High intercultural competencies
