Jeff Furber
CEO and Chairman

Global

Jeff Furber is the Chief Executive Officer of AEW Capital Management and Chairman of AEW Europe. Mr. Furber has oversight responsibility for all of AEW’s operating business units in the United States, Europe and Asia. He chairs AEW Capital Management’s Management Committee, which is responsible for AEW’s strategic direction and for managing the firm’s resources and is a member of the firm’s Risk Management Committee. He is also a member of the firm's Investment Committees in North America, Europe and Asia. Mr. Furber has 34 years of real estate investment experience, including 21 years in his capacity as CEO of AEW. He joined AEW in 1997 from Winthrop Financial Associates, a wholly owned subsidiary of Apollo Advisors, where he served as Managing Director of Winthrop and as President of Winthrop Management. In these capacities, he was responsible for acquisitions, asset management and capital markets activity, including the sourcing of equity and mezzanine debt investments. Mr. Furber is a member of the Board of The Howard Hughes Corporation (NYSE: HHC), STAG Industrial, Inc. (NYSE: STAG) and Boston Children's Hospital Trust. He is a graduate of Dartmouth College and Harvard Business School.

Pamela Herbst
Managing Director, Head of AEW Direct Investment Group

Pam Herbst is a Managing Director at AEW and Head of the Direct Investment Group. As the Head of AEW’s Direct Investment Group, she is responsible for all of the firm’s investment activities on behalf of core and value-added clients. In this capacity, she oversees the investment activity of approximately $30.4 billion of gross assets (as of June 30, 2019) invested in nearly all property types including new investment transactions totaling approximately $2 billion/year. She is also a member of the firm’s Management Committee, Investment Committee and Risk Management Committee. Over her 35 year career with AEW, Pam has served in a variety of roles that have encompassed asset management, portfolio management and acquisitions. In addition to holding a number of industry certifications, she is former Chair and Board member of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Managers (NAREIM), past Treasurer of the Executive Committee and a member of the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Chapter of the National Association of Office and Industrial Parks (NAIOP).  In addition, she is an active member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) where she has served as a Trustee, a member on the Awards for Excellence Committee, a council chair, and on their Investment Committee.  Pam is also active on the Board of Directors of the United Way of Massachusetts Bay and the Merrimack Valley, where she serves as the Chair of their Real Estate Committee and is a member of their Investment Committee.  She also served as Chair and Vice Chair of the Board and Chair of the Real Estate Committee for The Home for Little Wanderers, the oldest family service organization in the U.S., Ms. Herbst is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts (B.A.) and Boston University (M.B.A.).

 

 

Marc Davidson
Managing Director, Head of AEW Partners Funds

Marc Davidson is a Managing Director at AEW and the Portfolio Manager for the AEW Partners Funds, a series of opportunistic (real estate) private equity funds sponsored by AEW. In this capacity he is responsible for overseeing the Fund’s resources, strategic direction, investment strategy and portfolio management. Mr. Davidson joined AEW in 1995, became Portfolio Manager for the AEW Partners Funds in 1999 and was appointed head of the AEW Partners Group in 2004. Mr. Davidson is also a member of AEW’s Management Committee, Investment Committee and Risk Management Committee. He has over 37 years of experience in real estate portfolio and asset management, investment acquisition and structuring, property management and development, including extensive experience working with national developers and large institutional property owners. Prior to joining AEW, Mr. Davidson worked at Coopers & Lybrand as a Senior Manager in the Real Estate and Reorganization Groups, where his areas of expertise included financial analysis and planning, forecasting, development of internal management controls, deal structuring, and investment analysis. Prior to that he served as a commercial real estate controller at several real estate development and management companies, including Winthrop Management, The Linpro Company and Charter Development Company. Mr. Davidson is a graduate of Bentley College (B.S.).

Robert Plumb
Managing Director, AEW Chief Investment Strategist

Bob Plumb is a Managing Director at AEW and leads AEW’s Direct Investment acquisitions and capital markets teams, a group of 25+ professionals who are responsible for sourcing, negotiating, underwriting and closing investment opportunities for AEW’s core and value-added clients. Bob has 36 years of real estate experience, including extensive acquisitions and portfolio management experience. He is a member of AEW’s Management Committee, Investment Committee and Risk Management Committee. During his career, he has been responsible for the acquisition and structuring of over $25 billion of real estate transactions. He joined the firm in 1989 as an asset manager with significant focus on industrial and office properties in California and the southwestern U.S. Prior to that, he worked for the Kuwait Investment Office as an Investment Manager for its U.S. real estate and alternative investment portfolio. He is active in the senior leadership of the Urban Land Institute (ULI). Bob is a graduate of Trinity College (B.A.) and Columbia University (M.S.).

Michael Acton
Managing Director, Head of AEW Research

Mike Acton, CFA, is a Managing Director of the firm and AEW’s Head of Research with responsibility for directing the activities of AEW Research, the firm’s in-house research group. He works closely with the Fund’s investment management team in the development of the Fund’s investment strategy and criteria. Mr. Acton joined the firm in 1990 and has 34 years of experience as an economic analyst and forecaster. He is a standing member of the firm’s Investment Committee, Management Committee and Risk Management Committee. The resources of AEW Research are an integral part of AEW’s investment process and Mr. Acton works closely with senior professionals in all areas of the firm to develop investment strategies that match clients’ risk/reward objectives with market opportunities. Mr. Acton is also a member of the firm’s Compliance Committee. Prior to joining AEW, he was with DRI/McGraw-Hill where he managed the Metropolitan Area Forecasting Service. He is a graduate of Bates College (B.A.) and a CFA charterholder.

James Finnegan
Managing Director, AEW General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer

Jay Finnegan is a Managing Director and AEW’s General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer. He is a member of AEW’s Management Committee, Investment Committee, Risk Management Committee, Audit Committee and Compliance Committee. He has 32 years of legal experience, including private practice with major New York City (Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy) and Boston (Ropes & Gray) law firms. Jay joined AEW in 1993 and has been actively involved in all aspects of AEW’s investment activities, including the creation and implementation of real estate investment and portfolio management strategies for institutional investors. He is a member of the General Counsel section of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Managers. He is a graduate of the University of Vermont (B.A. - Economics) and Fordham University School of Law (J.D.).

Jonathan Martin
Managing Director, AEW Chief Operating Officer

Jon Martin is the Chief Operating Officer of AEW Capital Management and a Managing Director of the firm. He has responsibility for AEW’s day-to-day operations, including direct oversight of the firm’s Investor Relations, Finance, Human Resource and Information Technology groups. He is a member of the firm’s Management Committee and Risk Management Committee. Prior to assuming his role as COO in early 2017, he was a Portfolio Manager for the AEW's U.S. Core Strategy. Jon has over 26 years of real estate experience and has been with AEW since 2001. Prior to joining AEW, he worked for ten years as a Senior Manager with PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, where he was an auditor and financial consultant specializing in the real estate and mortgage banking industries. He is a graduate of the University Of Notre Dame (B.A.) in Finance and Accounting.

JT Straub
Managing Director, Head of AEW Real Estate Securities

J.T. Straub is a Director of the firm and oversees AEW’s securities team in Boston, London and Singapore. He is also a member of the firm’s Risk Management Committee. Mr. Straub brings over 26 years of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining the firm, he was a Principal at CBRE Clarion Securities, where his responsibilities included institutional client coverage, consultant relations and product solutions. He is active within the real estate community and is a member of the Pension Real Estate Association (PREA), the Defined Contribution Real Estate Council (DCREC) and the Defined Contribution Institutional Investment Association (DCIIA). Mr. Straub is a graduate of Connecticut College where he earned a B.A. in economics with distinction and government. He holds a Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) designation, administered by the Investments & Wealth Institute and taught in conjunction with The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

Jay Struzziery
Managing Director, Head of AEW Investor Relations

Jay Struzziery is a Managing Director at AEW with overall responsibility for the firm’s Investor Relations. His broad experience at the firm includes responsibility for marketing AEW’s investment services and for developing and maintaining client and consultant relationships, as well as strategic partnerships. He is a member of the firm’s Risk Management Committee. Mr. Struzziery joined AEW in 2004 from Morgan Stanley and prior to that he was an analyst at Goldman, Sachs & Co. in the Fixed Income Capital Markets group, working with U.S. corporations. Mr. Struzziery graduated from Villanova University (B.A.) and is a CFA charterholder, as well as a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society Boston.   
Michael Byrne
Director and Portfolio Manager, AEW Direct Investment Group

Mike Byrne is a Director of the firm and serves as Senior Portfolio Manager for the U.S. Core Strategy. In his role as Portfolio Manager, he is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Fund’s investments and operations, as well as working closely with AEW’s Investor Relations group on marketing and investor relations activities for the Fund. Mr. Byrne is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee and Risk Management Committee. Prior to assuming his role as Portfolio Manager, Mr. Byrne was a Senior Acquisitions Officer responsible for sourcing, negotiating and underwriting new investment opportunities for AEW’s Direct Investment Group. Since joining AEW in 2003, he has completed over $3.5 billion of new investment transactions in office, industrial, multifamily, student housing, and senior housing communities. Mr. Byrne has also served as Portfolio Manager for one of the firm’s institutional separate account clients, a large public pension fund, which he remains active on today. Prior to joining AEW, he was a member of the real estate investment team for Massachusetts’ state pension fund, The Pension Reserve Investment Management Board (“PRIM”). While at PRIM, Mr. Byrne was responsible for managing the real estate and timber portfolios. Prior to that, he worked at Citigroup/Salomon Smith Barney, working for the company’s real estate investment banking franchise. Mr. Byrne is a member of the Urban Land Institute (U.L.I.) and a graduate of Dartmouth College (A.B.).

Anthony Crooks
Director and Portfolio Manager, AEW Partners Funds

Tony Crooks is a Director at AEW and Senior Portfolio Manager for the AEW Partners Funds with responsibility for investment origination and asset management, as well as assisting in overseeing the Fund’s operations and strategic direction. Mr. Crooks is a member of AEW’s Investment Committee and Risk Management Committee. Since 2000, he has invested and managed over $2.8 billion dollars in the office, multifamily residential and mixed-use sectors. He is currently responsible for office, retail, residential, industrial and debt acquisitions in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Florida Markets.  He also leads the Partners Funds in all healthcare related investments and asset management domestically and in Canada. During his tenure at AEW, Mr. Crooks has been involved in acquisitions, dispositions, financing, asset management and portfolio management for a wide variety of commercial real estate product types across North America. Prior to joining AEW in 2000, Mr. Crooks served as an Equity Analyst with Thomson Financial.  He currently is a member of the American Senior Housing Association (ASHA) and Urban Land Institute (ULI).  He is a graduate of Northeastern University (B.S.B.A.) and a CFA charterholder.   
Maureen Joyce
Director and Portfolio Manager, AEW Direct Investment Group

Maureen Joyce is a Director of the firm and Senior Portfolio Manager for AEW Core Plus/Value-Add Strategy and value-add separate accounts, overseeing portfolios. Ms. Joyce also serves as Director of Asset Management for AEW’s Direct Investment Group, chair of AEW’s ESG Steering Committee and a member of the firm's Investment Committee and Risk Management Committee.  She has 33 years of diversified real estate experience that encompasses structuring and underwriting new investments, financing properties, managing existing assets and portfolios as well as completing workouts with lenders and real estate operators. Prior to joining AEW in 2002, Ms. Joyce worked for CB Richard Ellis Investors, where she managed a large portfolio of value real estate assets for a separate account client.  She has also held positions at Spaulding & Slye, where she served as a Vice President in the Capital Markets Group and at Copley Real Estate as Principal/Senior Portfolio Manager.  Ms. Joyce is a member of the National Association of Industrial and Officer Parks (NAIOP).  She is also a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and sits on its Technology and Real Estate Council (TREC).  Maureen is co-chair of The Honor Roll committee for Boston’s Campaign for Catholic Schools.  She is a graduate of Trinity College (B.A.) and The Carroll Graduate School of Management at Boston College (M.B.A.).
Thomas Mullahey
Director, Head of AEW Acquisitions, West Coast

Tom Mullahey is a Director in the firm’s Direct Investment Group and head of AEW’s Los Angeles office. Mr. Mullahey is also a member of the firm’s Risk Management Committee.  He has 36 years of real estate experience and is responsible for overseeing the management of a variety of investment assets, located primarily in the western U.S. Mr. Mullahey is also involved in sourcing and underwriting office and industrial investment opportunities in West Coast markets. He joined the firm in 1995 after spending ten years at L.J. Melody and Company as correspondent to Copley Real Estate Advisors and New England Mutual Life Insurance Company. Mr. Mullahey is a member of the Urban Land Institute (U.L.I) and a graduate of the University of Arizona (B.S.).

Seth Berger
Director, AEW Chief Financial Officer

Seth Berger is the Chief Financial Officer of AEW Capital Management and a Director at the firm, and he oversees the corporate finance department, which encompasses corporate accounting, tax, treasury and payroll functions.  Prior to joining AEW in early 2018, Mr. Berger spent over 18 years at MFS Investment Management in various Corporate Finance positions, the latest being Senior Group Controller and Head of Financial Planning; and before that, he was a Senior Auditor with Arthur Andersen LLP.  He is a graduate of Boston University’s School of Management (BSBA) with a concentration in Accounting.  
Daniel Bradley
Director and Portfolio Manager, AEW Direct Investment Group

Dan Bradley is a Director at AEW and Senior Portfolio Manager for AEW Core Property Trust, an open-end core real estate fund. Prior to assuming responsibility for the AEW Core Property Trust, Mr. Bradley oversaw separate account portfolios totaling approximately $5.5 billion of gross client assets. He has 35 years of real estate investment and portfolio management experience. Mr. Bradley joined AEW in 1999 from his position as Managing Director of Portfolio Management for GE Capital Investment Advisors, where he was responsible for developing and directing the execution of clients’ investment strategies and was a member of the firm’s Senior Management Group and Investment Committee. Previously, Mr. Bradley served as the company’s Managing Director of Asset Management, where his responsibilities included the management of a portfolio of assets totaling approximately $1.5 billion. Mr. Bradley is a graduate of Bethany College (B.A.) and Northeastern University (M.B.A.).
Alec Burleigh
Director and Portfolio Manager, AEW Direct Investment Group

Alec Burleigh is a Portfolio Manager in AEW's Direct Investment Group, with responsibility for three real estate equity separate account portfolios representing in excess of $2 billion in client capital.  Mr. Burleigh has lead Portfolio Manager responsibilities for one separate account, and works closely with the Senior Portfolio Managers on his two remaining accounts in developing the annual portfolio business plan including new acquisitions and asset sales.   He has 32 years of real estate finance and portfolio management experience encompassing all major property types. Mr. Burleigh joined AEW in 1997 as a Senior Portfolio Controller, responsible for the financial reporting and management of real estate separate accounts and co-mingled funds containing assets throughout the U.S. He later served as Asset Manager for several office and industrial properties. Prior to joining AEW, Mr. Burleigh was employed with First Data Investor Services Group and The Boston Company (1989-1997), where he was a Senior Portfolio Controller, specializing in real estate limited partnerships. Prior to that, he was employed at Boston Federal Savings Bank (1986-1989). Mr. Burleigh is a graduate of the University of Connecticut (B.A.).
Sara Cassidy
Director and Portfolio Manager, AEW Direct Investment Group

Sara Cassidy is a Director at AEW and Portfolio Manager (East Coast) for AEW's U.S.   Core Strategy.   In this role, she is responsible for overseeing the management of the Fund’s East Coast portfolio and providing investor relations support to the Fund’s East Coast based investors. Ms. Cassidy joined the firm in 2018. Prior to joining AEW, Ms. Cassidy had been with J.P. Morgan Asset Management since 2006, and she most recently held the title of Executive Director. In that role, she was responsible for the origination and structuring of real estate investment transactions in the Northeast, focusing on acquiring core, value-add and opportunistic office, residential, retail and industrial real estate.  Prior to J.P. Morgan, she was an associate with Joseph J. Blake and Associates, a commercial real estate appraisal firm and a vice president with Related Capital, where she was an acquisitions officer for the tax credit equity group.  Ms. Cassidy holds a B.A. in finance from Boston College and is active in the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and NAIOP.  
Alfred Della Porta
Director, AEW Capital Markets

Al Della Porta is a Director in AEW’s Capital Markets Group with responsibility for financings, subordinate debt investment originations, and strategic asset dispositions on behalf of the firm’s institutional clients and funds. Since joining AEW in 1998, he has executed over $10 billion of capital market transactions including project and entity level financings as well as over $250 million of mezzanine and B-note investments across various markets and property types including multifamily, industrial, office, senior housing and hotels. Prior to joining AEW, he worked for Konover & Associates, a private retail developer. Mr. Della Porta is a graduate of the University of Connecticut and holds a bachelor’s degree in Real Estate & Urban Economics. He is an active member of the Urban Land Institute, National Association of Industrial and Office Properties and Mortgage Bankers Association.  
Joshua Heller
Director, Head of AEW Acquisitions, East Coast

North America

Josh Heller is a Director in AEW’s Direct Investment Group.  Working out of AEW’s Boston office, Mr. Heller is an acquisitions specialist responsible for sourcing, underwriting, negotiating and closing new acquisition and development opportunities in New York/New Jersey and the Midwest. He also assists with portfolio management duties for one of the firm’s institutional clients, a large private pension fund. In addition, Mr. Heller manages AEW’s speculative industrial development program with one of the firm’s institutional clients. Since joining AEW in 2011, Mr. Heller has completed over $1.5 billion of transactions in wide variety of deal structures including direct real estate acquisitions, speculative ground up developments, joint venture partnerships and mezzanine loans.

 

Allison Husid
Director and Portfolio Manager, AEW Direct Investment Group

North America

Allison Husid is a Senior Portfolio Manager in AEW’s Direct Investments Group, with responsibility for two real estate equity separate account portfolios representing approximately $1.2 billion in client capital.   She has over 34 years of experience in real estate finance and investment management. Ms. Husid joined AEW in 1987 as Controller for a portfolio management team responsible for the acquisition, management, restructuring and disposition of client assets in New England and the western U.S. She later served as Asset Manager for a portfolio of assets in Arizona and the West Coast and has been a Portfolio Manager since 1997. Ms. Husid also serves as the Chair of AEW’s Charitable Contributions Committee and has been a member of the board of directors for several non-profit organizations. Prior to joining AEW, Ms. Husid worked for several years as a Senior Auditor with Peat Marwick, Main & Co. She is a former Certified Public Accountant and a graduate of the University of Massachusetts (B.A.).
Daniel Jacobson
Director, AEW Capital Markets

North America

Dan Jacobson joined AEW in 2013 to specialize in high yield debt and preferred equity investments for the firm’s Direct Investment Group. Mr. Jacobson has over 17 years of commercial real estate investment experience investing in direct equity, JV equity and structured debt investments across all product types domestically. Prior to joining AEW, Mr. Jacobson acted as a principal investor at CrossHarbor Capital, an institutional commercial real estate fund manager. At CrossHarbor, Mr. Jacobson invested on behalf of the firm’s fully discretionary institutional fund in opportunistic equity and high-margin debt opportunities across all asset classes, primarily in the United States and Bermuda. Prior to CrossHarbor Capital, Mr. Jacobson worked at Merrill Lynch where he originated primarily mezzanine debt and preferred equity in commercial real estate assets across the United States. Mr. Jacobson is a graduate of Cornell University (B.A.) and the MIT Sloan School of Management with a major in Real Estate (M.B.A.).
Hall Jones
Director and Portfolio Manager, AEW Real Estate Securities

North America

Hall Jones is a Director of the firm and a Portfolio Manager in the firm’s Real Estate Securities Group for diversified and income Strategies in the U.S. and North America. He is also a member of the Global Securities Allocation Committee. Mr. Jones joined AEW in 1999 from his position as a Real Estate Equity Analyst at First Union Capital Markets where he was responsible for preparing various financial analyses and earnings projections on real estate companies. Prior to that, he was a Registration Examiner for the Securities Division of the State Corporation Commission (Virginia) where he was responsible for examining broker-dealer, investment advisor and agent/representative registration applications. Mr. Jones is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts. Mr. Jones has earned a Masters in Real Estate from Georgetown University, as well as a Master of Business Administration from the College of William and Mary, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from James Madison University. He is a CFA charterholder, a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society Boston.  
Lily Kao
Director and Portfolio Manager, AEW Direct Investment Group

Lily Kao is a Director at AEW and Portfolio Manager (West Coast) for the AEW Core Property Trust. In this role, she is responsible for overseeing the management of the Fund’s West Coast portfolio and providing investor relations support to the Fund’s West Coast based investors. Prior to joining the Core Property Trust team, Ms. Kao served as the Asset Management Team Leader for AEW’s Los Angeles office where she was responsible for overseeing a team of over 15 professionals responsible for the management of a $5 billion West Coast portfolio consisting of over 19 million square feet of commercial property and 10,000 multifamily units. In addition, Ms. Kao is also a member of AEW’s Sustainability Committee and Charitable Giving Committee.  Ms. Kao joined the firm in 1998 and has 21 years of institutional real estate advisory experience in a variety of property types. Ms. Kao is a graduate of the University of Southern California (B.S.).
Ronald Pastore
Director and Portfolio Manager, AEW Direct Investment Group

North America

Ron Pastore is the Senior Retail Portfolio Manager in AEW’s Direct Investment Group. In this capacity he oversees AEW’s retail portfolio with particular emphasis on super regional malls, urban specialty centers and retail-oriented mixed-use projects.  Ron brings to his position over 30 years of real estate experience, including extensive experience managing joint ventures, complex redevelopment projects, financings and dispositions at both the asset and portfolio level.  Ron served as managing partner for separate ventures that owned historic Union Station in Washington D.C. and Woodfield Mall in Chicago, and currently serves in a similar capacity for Arden Fair Mall in Sacramento, California. He previously served on the partnership committee of the Taubman Realty Group and was a key player in the restructuring of the Taubman UPREIT in 1998. Ron joined AEW in 1993 from Himmel/MKDG, where he was responsible for retail asset management, development planning and joint venture structuring. Prior to Himmel/MKDG, Ron was a consulting city planner responsible for financing and managing infrastructure improvement and downtown revitalization projects in New England. He is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). Ron is a graduate of Bowdoin College (B.A.), Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government (Masters in City and Regional Planning) and MIT’s Sloan School (M.B.A.).  
Piper Sheer
Director, Head of AEW Human Resources

Piper Sheer directs the activities of AEW's Human Resources Group. She has more than 27 years of broad-based human resources experience.  Prior to joining AEW in April 2018, Ms. Sheer served as the Managing Director for the Global Human Resources Group at State Street Bank. Prior to that, she spent 15 years in Human Resources at IDG. Ms. Sheer is a graduate of University of Vermont (B.A.).

Kevin Stotts
Director, AEW Capital Markets

Kevin Stotts is a Director of the firm and Head of AEW’s Capital Markets Group. Mr. Stotts has responsibility for overseeing AEW’s debt financings for new acquisitions of core and value-added opportunities as well as financing of the firm’s existing portfolio of assets. He manages a team that works closely with the firm’s portfolio and asset management teams to develop strategy, advise clients and execute the placement of $2.0 billion per year of property and fund level financing across all property types. Mr. Stotts has over 32 years of commercial real estate experience in both debt and equity roles. Since joining AEW in 1995, Kevin has completed over $20 billion of disposition and financing transactions. Prior to AEW, he held positions in asset management and loan servicing at The Travelers Insurance Co. with a significant focus on loan workouts and restructuring. Mr. Stotts is a member of the Mortgage Bankers Association and a former chair of the Capital Markets Committee of the National Association of Office and Industrial Parks (NAIOP). He is a graduate of Southern Methodist University (B.B.A).
Brian Sunday
Director and Portfolio Manager, AEW Direct Investment Group

North America

Brian Sunday is a Director of the firm and Senior Portfolio Manager for the AEW Senior Housing Investors Funds.  In his role as Senior Portfolio Manager, he is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Funds and is a voting member of the Funds’ Investment Committee. Prior to assuming his role as Senior Portfolio Manager, Mr. Sunday was the Funds’ Portfolio Manager, where he assisted with all day-to-day management and operations of the Funds’. Since joining the AEW Direct Investment acquisitions team in 2005, he has completed investments totaling over $2.5 billion in the senior housing sector, including age-restricted, independent living, assisted living, and memory care facilities in metropolitan markets throughout the U.S.  Before joining AEW, Mr. Sunday worked at AMC Delancey Group and PricewaterhouseCoopers.  Mr. Sunday is a graduate of Villanova University (B.S.).   
Gina Szymanski
Director and Portfolio Manager, AEW Real Estate Securities

North America

Gina Szymanski is a Director of the firm and a Portfolio Manager in the firm’s Real Estate Securities Group for diversified strategies in the U.S. and North America. She is also a member of the Global Securities Allocation Committee. Prior to joining AEW, Ms. Szymanski worked at Putnam Investments for over 15 years where she most recently held the title of Senior Analyst. In this role, she managed the REIT sleeve of Putnam's Research Fund and was a member of the Global Equity Research team where she was focused on stock selection and modeling for the REIT sector, Banks, Insurance and Diversified Financials. Ms. Szymanski has held roles as a Portfolio Member of the Small & Mid Cap Value team focused on Financials, Consumer and Industrials as well as a Portfolio Member of the Quantitative Equity Research team. Prior to joining Putnam Investments, Ms. Szymanski held risk management and forensic accounting roles at CIBC World Markets and Matson, Driscoll & Damico Ltd, respectively. Ms. Szymanski earned an Honors Bachelor of Mathematics in Economics and Business Administration from the University of Waterloo and a Master of Science in Finance from Carnegie Mellon University. She is a CFA charterholder, a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society Boston.   
Matthew Tracy
Director and Portfolio Manager, AEW Direct Investment Group

North America

Matt Tracy is a Portfolio Manager in the AEW Direct Investment Group, with responsibility for managing two separate accounts totaling approximately $2.0 billion in gross asset value.  He has over 32 of experience in real estate investment management and finance Mr. Tracy joined AEW in 1996 as a Portfolio Controller, responsible for the financial reporting, management, and disposition of client assets throughout the U.S.  He later served as Asset Manager for a several office, industrial, and independent living properties.  Prior to joining AEW, Mr. Tracy worked at Saunders Real Estate Corporation, specializing in commercial, residential and condominium property management. He is a Certified Commercial Investment Manager (CCIM), a member of the New England CCIM network, is a licensed Massachusetts Real Estate Broker and is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts (B.A.). 
David Schaefer
Managing Director, Head of Asia Pacific

Asia Pacific

David Schaefer serves as Managing Director and Head of Asia Pacific, and Senior Portfolio Manager for AEW's Core Plus/Value-Add Strategy. He is a member of the AEW Asia Investment Committee, as well as AEW's Management Committee. He has over 28 years of real estate investment experience in the Asia Pacific region. Prior roles include the Head of Asia Pacific at Citi Property Investors, where he created Citi’s first Pan-Asia real estate opportunity fund, the $1.3 billion CPI Capital Partners Asia Pacific, L.P. Prior to Citi, he was Head of Property-Asia for Macquarie Bank, and Senior Advisor to the Schroder Asian Properties fund. Mr. Schaefer has a B.A. and M.B.A. from Cornell University.

Steve Bass
Director, Japan Country Manager

Asia Pacific

As a Director and Country Manager-Japan, Steve Bass will be responsible for managing AEW’s day-to-day business activities.  His real estate investment career spans nearly 20 years in Japan covering multiple asset classes and strategies, and includes extensive portfolio management, investment, and operational experience. Prior to joining AEW, he was a Partner at Orion Partners, where he led its real estate business in Japan, and he was on the investment committee for Orion’s investments in Korea and China. Prior to joining Orion Partners in 2010, Mr. Bass held positions at CBRE Global Investors and Macquarie Group. He is a graduate of Vassar College in New York, where he earned a B.A. in Economics, and University of California, where he earned a Ph.D. in Urban Planning. He studied Economics at Gakushuin University on a scholarship from the Japanese Ministry of Education and is fluent in Japanese.

Jason Lee
Director, Chief Investment Officer

Jason Lee is a Director and Chief Investment Officer for AEW in Asia and Portfolio Manager for AEW's Asia Core Plus/Value-Add Strategy. He is also a member of the AEW Asia Investment Committee. Mr. Lee is responsible for implementing the investment strategy including, sourcing, structuring and underwriting of new investment opportunities. Mr. Lee has 22 years of real estate investment experience. Prior roles include being a Director of Merrill Lynch’s Asia Opportunistic Real Estate Fund and the Global Principal Investments Group. Mr. Lee has a B.S. from Cornell University, an M.S. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is fluent in Mandarin.

Milton Low
Portfolio Manager, Asia Pacific Property Securities

Asia Pacific

Milton Low serves as Portfolio Manager with responsibility for the construction of the Asia Pacific component of AEW’s global property securities portfolios. He also serves as a member of the Global Securities Allocation Committee. Previously, Mr. Low was a Portfolio Manager for Asian property securities at LIM Advisors, Ltd. in Hong Kong, where he co-managed an Asian Property Long/Short Fund and a JREIT fund. With 18 years of investment management experience in the Asian equities market, he has also held positions at Prudential Asset Management, most recently as a Portfolio Manager focused on Asia Pacific equities. Mr. Low holds a Bachelor of Business degree from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in Australia and a CFA charterholder. He is also fluent in Mandarin.

Jason Maxwell
Director, Australia Country Manager

Jason Maxwell is Country Manager-Australia with responsibilities including investment origination, acquisition and asset management. Mr. Maxwell has over 13 years of experience across a number of Australian and European markets. Prior roles include Senior Asset Management positions at both Charter Hall and Macquarie Real Estate in Sydney and London. Mr. Maxwell has a B.Com and a B. Law from the University of Wollongong in Australia.

Michael Moon
Director, Korea Country Manager

Michael Moon is Director and Country Manager-Korea. Mr. Moon oversees the firm’s activities in Korea, which includes investment origination, acquisitions and asset management. Mr. Moon has over 25 years of real estate investment and asset management experience including the last 20 years in Seoul. Prior roles include Head of Macquarie Real Estate Korea. Mr. Moon has a B.A. from Northwestern State University of Louisiana and is fluent in Korean.

Glyn Nelson
Head of Research

Asia Pacific

Glyn Nelson is Director of Research with responsibility for directing AEW’s research activities in the Asia Pacific region. He is a member of the AEW Asia Investment Committee and a member of the firm’s Global Securities Allocation Committee. Mr. Nelson’s responsibilities include monitoring, evaluating and forecasting the macroeconomic environment, demographic trends and capital market conditions across the region. Mr. Nelson serves as the Chair of the ANREV Research Committee and sits on the ANREV Executive Committee. Prior roles include Head of Asia Pacific Property Research for Aberdeen Asset Management and Head of the Real Estate Intelligence Service for JLL. Mr. Nelson has a B.Com from the University of Auckland and an M.S. from the University of Texas.

Rob Wilkinson
Chief Executive Officer

Rob Wilkinson is the Chief Executive Officer of AEW in Europe with overall responsibility for management and strategy, and is Chairman of AEW's European Investment Committee. Since joining AEW in 2009, Rob has overseen over €15bn of transactions across separate accounts and funds and has been actively involved in the management of the private equity funds. Prior to being appointed CEO of the firm in 2014, Rob held the position of Chief Investment Officer at AEW. Rob was previously Managing Director at the Goodman Group with responsibility for the development, structuring and equity raising for new and existing funds. Rob has over 25 years of real estate and financial services experience, holds a degree in Law from the University of Cambridge and is a qualified chartered accountant.

Serge Bataillie
Chief Data Officer

Europe

Serge Bataillie is the Chief Financial Officer of AEW in Europe, based in Paris. His responsibilities include corporate finance, financial reporting, insurance, risk management and legal. Serge previously held the position of CEO of AEW Europe SGP and NAMI-AEW Europe, and from 2005 to 2008 he co-ordinated AEW's local Platform in Luxembourg. He has over 30 years experience in finance and real estate. Serge joined AEW from Caisse des Dépôts in 1999 as a specialist in asset management on behalf of institutional clients. Serge graduated from ESC Amiens.

Stephan Boenning
Head of Germany and Central Europe

Stephan Boenning is the Managing Director and Head of Germany and Central Europe, based in Düsseldorf. Stephan is responsible for all German and Central Europe business activities, including investments, asset management and fund management. Stephan has been working in the real estate industry for 27 years and prior to joining AEW, he held various senior level positions. He was Managing Director of AXA Investment Managers and Aachener Grundvermögen, both German Kapitalanlagegesellschaft, where he was in charge of real estate investments and fund management. Stephan is a graduate of the Fachhochschule Nuertingen.

Raphael Brault
Head of Institutional Business

Europe

Raphael Brault is Head of Institutional Business, based in Paris. His responsibilities include the strategic direction and oversight of the firm's separate account mandates and funds managed from the Paris office. Raphael is also responsible for the investment and management of these funds/mandates as well as further developing AEW's real estate platform in France. Raphael joined AEW from Acofi-Alms where he launched the firm's debt fund platform and prior to this he spent 12 years with Morgan Stanley in Paris. Raphael graduated from the ESSEC Business School in Paris.

Russell Jewell
Head of Private Equity Funds

Europe

Russell Jewell is Head of Private Equity Funds at AEW, based in London. Russell joined AEW in 2011 and has 35 years of experience. He was formerly Head of Merrill Lynch's European Global Principle Investing Division (GPI), responsible for investing the firm's capital in a variety of value-add and opportunistic real estate equity and mezzanine positions. Formerly Partner with hedge fund Strategic Value Partners and Partner in European Real Estate platforms of both Jones Lang Wootton and Healey & Baker, Russell has completed over €6bn of real estate transactions cross Europe throughout market cycles. Russell has a degree in Urban Land Administration.

Robert Oosterkamp
Portfolio Manager, European Property Securities

Europe

Mr. Oosterkamp is a Director of the firm and serves as Portfolio Manager, European Property Securities and is a Co-Chair of the Global Securities Allocation Committee.  He is responsible for the construction of the European component of AEW’s global property securities portfolios and the European mandates.  Mr. Oosterkamp, who is based in AEW’s affiliate office in London, joined AEW in 2005.  He joined AEW from Kempen Capital Management, where he was a Senior Portfolio Manager for European real estate securities. Mr. Oosterkamp also has held positions with SFS, a pension fund in the Netherlands, and ING Bank.  He has 20 years of investment management and analysis experience and is a graduate of the H.E.A.O. Business School in the Netherlands (B.A.) and the University of Amsterdam (M.B.A.).  

Isabelle Rossignol
Head of Retail

Isabelle Rossignol is Head of the Retail Business for AEW Ciloger. Prior to joining Ciloger (now AEW Ciloger) in 2012, Isabelle held positions as Development Director and Asset Management Director at AGF Real Estate (now Allianz Real Estate France), before becoming the Deputy Director of Immovalor Gestion. Isabelle has over 30 years’ real estate experience and is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, the Circle of Women in Real Estate, ASPIM’s Administrator, and the President of the Technical Real Estate Fund Commission of the AFG. Isabelle graduated from HEC Business School.

 

Vanessa Roux-Collet
General Counsel

Europe

Vanessa Roux-Collet is General Counsel Europe for AEW in Europe. Vanessa joined AEW’s legal department in 2010, before being appointed as Head of Legal in Paris in 2015. She is responsible of a team in charge of all legal matters across the European business of AEW.  Prior to joining AEW, Vanessa was a senior lawyer at Clifford Chance within the real estate legal department.  Vanessa was admitted to the Paris bar, holds a master’s degree in Banking and Financial Law from Paris I University as well as a master’s degree in Common Law from Paris II University.  

Hans Vrensen
Head of Research

Europe

Hans Vrensen is Director of Research for AEW Europe with responsibility for directing the firm’s research activities in Europe. Based in London, he is a member of the AEW Europe Investment Committee and a member of the firm’s Global Securities Allocation Committee. Mr. Vrensen’s responsibilities include monitoring, evaluating and forecasting the macroeconomic environment, demographic trends and capital market conditions across Europe. He interprets this information for AEW’s senior professionals in order to provide decision support to the investment, asset management and portfolio management activities. Prior to joining AEW, Mr. Vrensen acted as an external consultant to CREFC Europe prior to that served as Global Head of Research for DTZ.  Mr. Vrensen was also the Head of European Securitization Research at Barclays Capital prior to that a Senior Credit Officer at Moody’s Investor Services. He has a Masters in Economics from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and a Masters in Real Estate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
